Twin Arrows Resort and Casino
SWI provided site infrastructure development for this 250,000 square foot casino and hotel resort located on approximately 84 acres, about 20 miles east of Flagstaff. This was the Navajo Nation’s first Arizona casino and is considered to be its flagship casino. SWI’s scope of services included preparing site grading and drainage plans, driveway entry improvements, water and sewer distribution lines and paving and striping plans. In addition to Navajo Nation Gaming Enterprise and their representative consultant, the project team consisted of the Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR), the design consultants, Navajo Tribal Utility Authority, other local utility authorities, and hotel management. Accordingly, this project required extensive project coordination including weekly design meetings and conference calls. Existing archaeological sites were located at various locations within the site which created a grading challenge.
SWI assisted in providing value engineering of the site to reduce any civil infrastructure costs by reducing the amount of curb and gutter, evaluating alternative paving options and reducing earthwork.
SWI provided design services within budget despite adhering to an accelerated project schedule. SWI also provided construction phase services including construction observation, response to construction RFI’s (request for information), assisted with record drawings and provided engineering certifications for water and sewer distribution system.
