Yuma East Wetlands - Yuma, Arizona

SWI teamed with Fred Phillips Consulting (FPC) and Natural Channel Design (NCD) to develop design and construction documents for the restoration of a 400 acre wetlands on the Lower Colorado River on lands owned by the City of Yuma and the Quechan Tribal Nation. SWI, NCD and FPC assembled a design to restore native riparian, wetland and aquatic habitats, as well as provide cultural preservation, environmental education, low-impact recreation, and eco-tourism opportunities. Additional team responsibilities included design of reclaimed water distribution systems for irrigation, and construction management. This project will serve as a pilot project for over 1000 acres of wetland restoration work.

This project was completed in 2003.
