Rio de Flag Flood Control Project - City of Flagstaff, Arizona

SWI was contracted for two phases of this historically large project for the City of Flagstaff. Phase one of this project was to gather all utility facilities within the project area. Some datasets needed data conversion from paper or PDF file into GIS. Value Engineering was performed to plan the most efficient relocation or utilities due to the underground channel construction. Phase two was to assemble all property information from boundaries to encumbrances that are impacted by the planned right of way along the 4-mile length of channels and created new legal documents. Incorporating engineering and survey data, overlay analysis was performed using the right of way and City of Flagstaff GIS parcels were used to calculate differences in the area of "take" by the channel between an open or closed channel. GIS also managed a database of all the spatial data and used a visual tracking report as a map for managers to view the progress of property identification and mapping to create new legal descriptions for the impacted properties.

SWI also performed the Engineering and Survey for this project.

This project is scheduled to be completed in 2008.
