Coordination in planning of a Traditional Neighborhood Design subdivision - Juniper Point, Flagstaff, ArizonaSWI is currently working with architects, proposed General Plan amendments, and property owners to develop a 230-acre subdivision on the south side of Flagstaff. A Traditional Neighborhood design is one that provides an interconnected network of walkable streets, clearly defined central gathering places, all buildings within a five minute walk of neighborhood centers, and a variety of residential and mixed-use building types. This project has proceeded from concept to architectural design, general plan amendments, resource protection planning, and infrastructure planning. GIS has been heavily involved with bringing together various datasets to provide professional and clear exhibits for public and council presentations which range from simple vicinity maps to 3D models of the property. In addition spatial analysis has been used to calculate and modify protection of steep slopes, forested areas, and flood plain areas. SWI is also providing Engineering for this project. This project was completed in 2006.
