Shephard-Wesnitzer, Inc. Teams with Red Rock Racing for 2007 Season
Shephard-Wesnitzer, Inc. (SWI) has signed on to be the title sponsor of Red Rock Racing for the next three seasons. Headquartered in Sedona, Arizona, Shephard-Wesnitzer is a full service civil engineering and surveying firm with offices in Flagstaff, Cottonwood, Prescott, and Kingman. Two of the owners in The Flagstaff office, Guillermo Cortes and Frank Protiva, are both mountain bikers.
Shephard-Wesnitzer, Inc. is also a supporter of Flagstaff Biking Organization. SWI's three-year commitment to Red Rock Racing help the group deal with their recent growth . "SWI is a prominent Northern Arizona company and we are proud to represent them," said Gary Phillips of Red Rock Racing. "In 2006 our team doubled in size. SWI's sponsorship secures the financial longevity of our team," says Gary Phillips, Sponsorship Coordinator for Red Rock Racing.
Cortes said that SWI is happy to give back to the cycling community. "We believe in Red Rock Racing's commitment to encourage racing and team involvement, and support the fact that anyone is welcome on the team at any time of the year, regardless of age or ability. It is a rare thing to see a team operate like this,"
SWI employees also can be seen racing in many local, regional, and national races. Every May, Aaron Seifert, GIS Coordinator at SWI, heads up the Bike to Work Challenge and encourages all employees to participate. Protiva added, "Our Flagstaff office is full of mountain bikers and during the spring, summer, and fall months we get together on Thursday afternoons and ride together. It's a great way for all of us to spend time with each other outside of work and enjoy the reason we live in Flagstaff."
